New baby, new house

On December 16th Oliver joined the family! He is a great looking guy (of course) and while he doesn't have a huge range, he does the three basics really well. Two days before birth he was in perfect position, then in less than 48 hours he did a flip and Allison had to have an emergency c-section. Iris loves pointing out his facial features and giving him kisses. It has been a very busy month - we moved into our house on November 21st.

Friends of ours had their daughter two days later at the same hospital and were in a recovery room two doors down. They took this pic.

We took Oliver home during the "Capital Crippler", "Beltway Blizzard" etc...
Ghandi was covered.

Iris out in her first big snow.

The house

This was the first night. We've re-organized slightly since.

Hi Ian and Allison,

I have just spent two delightful hours reading your blog and catching up on the Corey family. Your children are beautiful. In some of the pictures Allison looks like her mother Anne when Allison was a baby.

John and Sharon are on the World Harvest Mission in London with my friends Barry and Amy Schutter, who we met when we moved to Central NJ in 1993.

Prior to that we lived across the street from the Corey's in Philadelphia and around the corner from the Terrell's, after the Corey's relocated to Canada. My daughter Lauren, now 26, was in a playgroup with Allison when Lauren was 2 and Allison was 5.

I was glad to find your blog from Allison's facebook page. I was also able to locate Jen and Aaron's video of their wedding pictures, so beautiful and reminiscent of the talented photographer of my nephew's August wedding in Williamsburg.

It was neat to see Tom officiating at Susannah's and Aaron's weddings and I am sure Michael's and yours. What a joy that must be for him to have that honor and privilege.

Lauren and Aaron were in the same grade at the elementary school that all of the Corey children attended and it made me feel secure to have her be able to walk to the bus stop with them. Michael was also one of our first babysitters for Lauren and my son Jason, now 22.

Lauren and I share in common Ian's profession. I am a high school math teacher and she is a high school english teacher, both at large regional high schools in Somerset and Hunterdon counties respectively.

My husband Paul commuted to Washington DC from September 2002 through July 2004 to help the new Transportation Security Administration write its human resources policy, which I am assuming is the government side to the labor relations work that Allison does.

I had noticed some months ago that Aaron was a math major at Wheaton and my son Jason is graduating from Rowan University this spring with a mechanical engineering major and a math minor. I believe Michael studied engineering in Canada.

Having seen pictures of all of the Corey siblings in your blog or in Aaron's wedding, I was able to return to the family photo at George Terrell's Memorial service and identify all of the Corey's and their respective families. I echoed with you the character traits of George.

Lauren got to know my grandparents, who were also strong Christians, as they passed away about the same time that the Corey's moved. We have pictures of both children at my grandfather's 100th birthday party in 1989. It was at my grandfather's funeral a year later that I saw the power of memorizing God's word as his pastor of at least 65 years quoted every scripture related to death and heaven from memory.

I would prefer if you would email any follow-up comments to hrmphs@aol.com, which although is the initials of my husband's occupation title and name, is the email I use and he uses the gmail account.

Glad to have reconnected with you, Susan Sheldon
